DATEN BADMINTON CLUB

Badminton has been played in the Main Hall at the Club in Culcheth ever since the formation of the original Daten Sports and Social Club in the 1950's. The high ceiling and lighting of the Hall provide an ideal venue for the sport.

We play on Thursday and Friday evenings between the beginning of September and the end of April. Thursdays from 7.30 to 11.00 and Fridays from 7.00 to 11.00 whenever the Hall is not in use for other purposes.

We have two mixed teams, one playing in the First Division of the Leigh League on Thursdays, and the other in the First Division of the Warrington League on Fridays. Our Club night is on Thursday, when we play informally unless there is a home League match.

In the 2000/2001 Season we were particularly successful in the various League Competitions. We won the Leigh League for the 11th consecutive year, and were also successful in the Warrington League. We also did well in the other knock-out competitions, winning the Booths Cup in the Warrington League and the Handicap Cup in the Leigh League. We were also runners-up in the Division I Cup in the Leigh League.

MEMBERSHIP & MATCH FEES

The annual Badminton Club Fee is currently £20.00 for all Senior Members, with a reduced Fee for Juniors by arrangement. In addition to these annual fees there is a fee £3 for each Club League match. We are always very pleased to see new faces, Juniors as well as Seniors, so if you would like to join us or require any further information about the game, equipment etc., please contact the Club Secretary on either of the numbers given below, or simply drop in on a Thursday evening.

Only Culcheth Sports Club members can join the Badminton Club, but if you are currently not a member but interested in playing, we can make Sports Club Membership arrangements for you.
